HP compra Palm

En una medida completamente inesperada, HP anuncia la compra de Palm por 1200 millones de dólares, unos 5,70 dólares por acción. El acuerdo está previsto ser cerrado el 31 de julio, fecha que marca el cierre del tercer trimestre fiscal de HP en el año. La noticia recién se ha generado y no hay mucha más información.

HP asegura que el sistema operativo de Palm es una plataforma ideal para expandir sua estrategia en el mercado de la movilidad y crear una experiencia única para el usuario final. Especulando un poco puede ser que HP quiera crear una tablet con el sistema operativo webOS, para competir rápido con el iPad y formar parte del nuevo mercado que ha creado Apple.

The transaction has been approved by the HP and Palm boards of directors.The combination of HP’s global scale and financial strength with Palm’s unparalleled webOS platform will enhance HP’s ability to participate more aggressively in the fast-growing, highly profitable smartphone and connected mobile device markets.
